No longer will you have to rely on the vagaries of someone that was here years ago, or old maps with closed trails that don't show the BEST trails, or guidebooks that are outdated as soon as they are printed, or people that won't cough up the beta. You know, I've been handed the same $9 map perhaps a hundred times that is titled "Mountain Biking the High Sierra South Lake Tahoe Recreation Map" and asked which ride I recommend. Well, this map has 13 rides on it. I only ride 2 of them, both of which are covered on this site! And one of them has been rerouted twice since the map was updated! The other 11 rides I wouldn't even consider adding to this site! Then, the confused customers inevitably ask where I like to ride. There are so many possibilities in Lake Tahoe that I ask a few questions to qualify their ability and their desires and, generally, I end up giving in depth directions and instructions to my favorite trails. Your FAVORITE trails? Why would you give out this information?
The one thing that stands out in my mind when looking back on some of my most enjoyable trips is local people sharing good trail information. Of course, I had to ask because I couldn't find good and complete information anywhere else! On the other hand, I can remember destinations where people safeguarded trail information like it was buried in the lower levels of Fort Knox as a matter of national security. What a miserable feeling to be in a beautiful outdoor Mecca, knowing that the recreation is fantastic, and only having some untrustworthy map or guidebook that you spent too much on because the local people won't give you the time of day, and when they do, it's not the right time! I couldn't take it anymore! And neither should you! And that is why I got this whole thing started! Now, you can have the best information that is complete and up-to-date right at your fingertips at a cheap price! Don't waste hours or days looking for the information that is right here! I know what it is like to not know! I've
taken my recreation adventures (which include all of the sports covered
here and then some) to all of California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho,
Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Nevada, and a few of them to France and Italy.
Trying to prepare for my adventures, I usually exhaust every resource when
looking for information on what to do and where to go, because I have
found that you cannot always rely on what you find when you get there.
I've wasted days in places trying to find legendary recreation based on
information from books, maps and Internet resources. Usually, the Internet
resources are the worst!
